Turning 65 & Getting on Medicare
A simple checklist from McBride Insurance Store

6 to 9 months before your 65th birthday
β Learn about Medicare basics β Parts A, B, C, and D. (Call Tina McBride at 405-309-3221 to schedule a one-on-one educational meeting or attend one of her seminars.)
β Decide if youβll keep working and stay on employer insurance, or if youβll need Medicare right away.
π 3 months before turning 65
β Sign up for Medicare Parts A & B at ssa.gov, You can call Tina McBride at 405-309-3221 or by calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213.
Even if youβre already getting Social Security checks, make sure they have your correct address & info.
β Ask your current doctors if they accept Medicare.
π Decide how youβll fill the gaps
β Will you get:
Original Medicare (Parts A & B) + a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) + a Part D drug plan?
Or a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C) that combines hospital, medical & often drug coverage?
β Make a list of your medications & doctors to compare plans with Tina McBride.

β Complete your enrollment paperwork so coverage starts the first day of your birthday month or the first day of the previous month depending on your birthday.
π After you enroll
β Watch for your red, white & blue Medicare card (if you didnβt already have it).
β Watch for your plan ID cards β keep them with you.
β Review your new benefits so you know whatβs covered.
You should have A,B, D and a supplement or C and D. If not you may be penalized.
